The Oxford Mail (May 1) headline, ‘Anti-gay marriage protesters lobby PM’s base’ above the photo of the Witney for Marriage rally, was quite misleading. The 300 or so people who took part in the rally are certainly not anti-gay. It is very important that you and your readers understand this and I think you do. We are among the majority of people in the UK who believe that the meaning of marriage should not be changed. We believe that it remain the union of one man and one woman for life, a union which normally produces children, and both a mummy and daddy for the child.
This is natural. And though changes to the family unit may occur through death or divorce it remains the best thing hoped for.
