A MAN who denies raping a woman in an Oxford park has been accused of changing his story.
Julio Dos-Santos, of Nightingale Avenue, Oxford, and Takudzwa Hunda, of Casterbridge Road, Swindon, deny the attack in Bury Knowle Park, Headington, on September 11.
The pair have both been charged with rape and a serious sexual assault.
Yesterday, during the fifth day of their trial at Oxford Crown Court, the jury heard evidence from 26-year-old Hunda. He was cross examined by Ian Acheson, prosecuting, who focused on the encounter between the two defendants and the complainant in the park.
Mr Acheson said Hunda told police he started kissing the woman while Dos-Santos, 28, was next to him – but Hunda told the court he didn’t know where his friend was.
Mr Acheson said: “I suggest that the sexual activity took place with all three of you together throughout.”
Hunda said: “Not at all”.
Mr Acheson added: “You are changing your story to avoid saying that aren’t you?”
Mr Hunda replied: “I’m not trying to avoid saying anything.
“I didn’t say I knew where he was. English isn’t my first language, you’re trying to twist my words. I stand by what I said in the interview.”
The trial continues and the jury is due to retire on Monday
