A POST Office could return to Cropredy in North Oxfordshire – but only for two mornings a week under new plans.
Views are being sought on the proposal for a postmaster to visit The Red Lion pub on Monday and Wednesday mornings.
The former branch, at gift shop Perfect Present in Williamscot Road, closed in January 2012 when subpostmistress Camille Jokumsen stepped down.
Easington Post Office has agreed to provide the service at the pub in Red Lion Street from 9.30am to 1.30pm on Mondays and Wednesdays.
It would also offer DVLA and Euro bureau de change services for the first time in the village.
The Post Office said the offer was the “best possible solution”.
Cropredy Parish Council spokesman Stuart Alexander said: “We would like it to go back to a permanent location. But at the moment that doesn’t seem to be feasible so we are happy to get back a service at all.”
A six-week consultation closes on March 28.
