Two hamburger-style roundabouts have proved a success already at cutting congestion in different locations on the edge of Oxford.

So, it is not surprising that another roundabout featuring lanes through the middle is being planned for Milton interchange, near Didcot.

It is not yet 100 per cent certain that the scheme will go ahead, but there is a good chance that Oxfordshire County Council will be able to raise the £11.5m needed to complete the project.

If a bid to the Government’s pinch-point fund is not successful, then winning funding as a result of Oxfordshire’s City Deal status is another possibility. Since the Science Vale UK Enterprise Zone was created in 2011, hundreds of new jobs have been created at Milton Park and Harwell Oxford.

But, as we have said repeatedly, major routes in the area need to run smoothly to ensure that top companies keep relocating their business to the area.

The two hamburger-style roundabouts at Headington roundabout and at Heyford Hill have helped to improve the flow of traffic. Anything that can help to keep traffic moving around the county must be welcomed.
