COUNCILLOR John Tanner (Viewpoints, December 14) protests at Cllr Fatemian’s telling the city council what to spend its money on. But he is himself telling the county council what it should be spending its money on.
He protests at the threatened charges for elderly people to attend day centres – while he is refusing to help to provide transport, an adequate Dial-a-Ride service, to enable people to get there at all.
Yes, Oxford needs better public loos, but more of them open for longer hours might be preferred to the apparent emphasis on very superior loos in the few current locations.
If Cllr Tanner and the Labour administration at the Town Hall really cared about the citizens – the elderly and disabled citizens in particular – they would be writing the cheque to the county council for the much-needed second Dial-a-Ride bus now, as a belated Christmas present to the frail elderly and disabled of this city.
