IMPORTANT information for concessionary bus pass holders waiting for renewals.

My concessionary bus pass expires on December 27 and I have little hope of receiving a replacement card before this time. I only discovered this by visiting Oxfordshire County Council’s office in Oxford.

Holders of concessionary bus passes should be made aware that they may not receive a replacement card when their old one expires.

The following appears on the county council’s website: Oxfordshire County Council took responsibility for bus passes in spring 2012. County councils across the country took on this responsibility from district councils at the same time.

When data was transferred from district councils to the county council in Oxfordshire, about one per cent of the files became corrupted. It is important to stress that this data has not been lost. It has simply been corrupted and the council is not able to access it.

The vast majority (99 per cent) of bus pass holders will not be affected by this problem. Those who have been affected have been dealt with on a case-by-case basis by the county council since spring and this will continue.

Bus pass holders whose passes have not been renewed automatically are advised to contact the county council’s Concessionary Fares Team.
