IN your issue of December 11, On Yer Bike columnist James Styring, having viewed BBC TV’s The War on Britains’ Roads which included views of cyclists mounting the pavement to bypass red traffic lights, concluded his feature with a plea to be more tolerant of pavement cycling.
On page three of the same issue you report (Voles scupper plans for towpath revamp) that cyclists are continuing to campaign for a stretch of canal towpath to be made more suitable for cycling in spite of Sustrans’s opinion that it would not be wide enough to be safe for everyone.
It seems that in Oxford pedestrians merit little consideration where cyclists are concerned.
