PLANS for an £11m story museum in Oxford have been recommended for approval.

Oxford City Council officers urged members of the authority’s west area planning committee to approve the plans for the Pembroke Street site at next Wednesday’s meeting.

The new attraction, if proposals are approved, will include turrets, rooftop walkways and an enchanted library.

A report said: “The council considers that the proposal, subject to the conditions imposed, would accord with the special character and appearance of the conservation area. It has taken into consideration all other material matters, including matters raised in response to consultation and publicity.”

English Heritage objected saying the design was “out of keeping” with the rest of the area. Concerns about parking were also raised, but they were dismissed by officers.
