FOUR men clambered through a window of an elderly woman's house in Oxford and stole her watch and cash after one of them told her he was a CID cadet.

The burglary happened on Mere Road in Wolvercote on Sunday at around 7.20pm and police are now hunting the four men, one of whom is described as having 'weasel' shaped features with an angular pointed chin.

The 87-year-old woman challenged the men when they entered the house, most likely through a window.

After one of them said he was a 'CID cadet' and made off with her watch and a small amount of cash.

PC Alex Gill, of the Oxford Police Burglary Team, said: "The woman was left extremely shaken by this incident and I would appeal for anyone who saw these men to come forward. They made off towards Godstow Road.

"If you have been the victim of a similar incident or you have had a suspicious caller then please contact police."

The four offenders are white. One is in his late teens, 5ft 6ins, slim, clean and tidy looking. He wore a dark woollen hat and dark jacket and trousers.

The second man is middle aged with stubble on his face and a dark woollen hat. The third is in his late teens with pale skin and weasel' shaped features with an angular pointed chin. The fourth was also a teenager.

Police advise residents not to open the door to a stranger unless they are expecting someone. Always check ID and when in doubt don't let them in.
