LAST Saturday I was asked to escort a young blind lady to Didcot from Grove.
I decided rather than use my car I would use Thames Travel service number 32. We walked the quarter-of-a-mile to the bus stop, getting there in plenty of time.
The bus arrived going too fast to stop and went on by. We then had to walk back and collect the car. It does not encourage people to use buses instead of cars.
People in the Wantage area are very unhappy with the bus services to Oxford and Didcot not allowing enough time for the elderly and disabled passengers to get aboard.
I have rang Thames Travel today to be told: “You have to hail and ride.”
The town’s ‘yellow bus’ service is very good.
