A LITTLEMORE man assaulted the mother of his three children because he was “out of his mind on drink”, a court heard.

Luke Ward, 27, of Barberi Close, admitted assault occasioning actual bodily harm on Sally-Anne Rose on October 27 this year at her home in Barns Road, Littlemore.

Joanna Durber, prosecuting, yesterday told Oxford Crown Court Ward and his ex-partner Miss Rose had been at the Nelson Pub with friends before they left at about 1.30am and went back to her home.

Miss Rose left Ward at her house to visit another friend, but Ward attacked her when she returned, believing she had gone to see a new boyfriend.

Ms Durber said: “Mr Ward let her in. After closing and locking the door he grabbed her and pushed her to the floor. She describes him jumping on her and stamping on her about four times.”

Ward also punched her in the face and back of the head before he took off her clothes and kicked her between her legs. Miss Rose sustained fractured ribs in the attack.

Richard Paton-Philip, defending, said: “He accepts that he was out of his mind on drink that evening.”

Judge Mary Mowat adjourned for sentencing on December 10.
