BANBURY: An investigation into disturbed earth thought to be an unofficial grave has been called off.
A council worker discovered the patch of earth in Bankside Park last Wednesday.
Police launched an investigation after a mysterious item was discovered in the earth, initially suspected as being human remains.
Detective Inspector Steven Duffy of Banbury CID said: “Regarding the forensic examination of the item found buried at Bankside, Banbury yesterday, we have concluded that the find was not human remains.
“No further investigation is now to be carried out. The incident is not being treated as suspicious.”
