A REPRINT of a council magazine which was sent out with “alarming errors” is expected to come too late to promote Oxford’s Christmas lights events.

More than 60,000 copies of the front cover of Your Oxford need to be reprinted at a cost of £2,000 after mistakes were found in council leader Bob Price’s column.

But despite the errors being discovered on Friday, November 9, last night the reprint still had yet to take place. The mistakes included Mr Price writing that child benefit would be replaced by the Universal Credit system next year.

He also said under the new system, people would no longer be able to apply for Job Seeker’s Allowance online, but both statements are incorrect.

Council spokesman Louisa Dean said: “The letter has now been revised and will be sent to the designer tomorrow. We have to allow for a couple of days before we can get the revised pages distributed to our residents. However, the revised pages will be placed on our website as soon as possible.”

But the publication could be too late to promote the festive celebrations later this week, some of the city’s major events of the year.

The Christmas events will be held this Thursday with an event to promote late night shopping and on Friday with the festive lights celebration.
