FILM crews are back in Oxford shooting an episode of Inspector Morse prequel Endeavour.

Production vehicles were in Broad Street yesterday as a dramatic stunt that will feature at the end of one of the episodes was filmed on the roof of Trinity College. Filming is set to continue today.

A pilot of the detective drama, set in 1965 and starring Shaun Evans as the police detective in his early career, aired on ITV1 in January this year and got 6.5m viewers.

Now four new episodes have been commissioned by ITV.

Visitors to Oxford were yesterday excited to see filming taking place.

Mellisa Dillon, 56, from London, said: “We come to Oxford not infrequently and there’s something going on quite often. “I don’t think I have ever watched Endeavour but I do watch Inspector Morse.”

Lukas Ljungdeahl, 17, who was with a group of his friends visiting from Sweden, said: “We are here to visit the university but this is a bonus for us.”

Sharon Maule, 46, from Thame, added: “I watch Inspector Morse and Lewis and I did see the pilot for Endeavour earlier this year. It is nice to know that filming is going on in Oxford.

“It is good to see places you know on TV. “I will be looking out for it when it is on.”

The new series will be screened next year.
