WHO is responsible for the long-term plans for development and providing the infrastructure for Oxford?

In recent years, within the Oxford ring-road, housing is being squashed into every available space, however small. Houses are being turned into flats to create multiple occupancy housing.

The rapid expansion of Brookes and all hospital provision located close together has created problems.

Why has school land been sold off?

Why was Northway Middle School recently demolished for more housing? Where will the children from the homes be schooled?

We need common sense when providing primary school provision:

  • One form entry schools;
  • Adequate halls and outdoor space;
  • Good staffing; and
  • Children attending should live within the local community.

They should be able to walk or cycle to school and the local community should feel an affinity to its school. Young children benefit from this type of provision. They are a name, not just a roll number.They develop confidence, gain nurturing skills in a close setting that positively impacts on their learning.

We paid taxes for schools, we must retain its land. The taxes must purchase land and build schools when and where the population increases.

Young children are our future and should not be put into inferior warehouse battery-style provision and driven to schools out of their locality.

The world perceives Oxford as a great seat of learning.

Oxfordshire County Council must listen and act on parents and teachers’ knowledge and not be allowed to ignore the consultation process.
