A MAN has been rushed to hospital after a gun incident at the Milton Services near Didcot this afternoon.

The man was spotted with an air rifle near the BP service station at the services just before 4pm.

He has suffered a head wound. Police have not said how he was injured but the Oxford Mail understands it was a self-inflicted wound.

The man's condition is not thought to be life-threatening.

The A4130 was closed both ways after the incident at 4.30pm, and the BP garage is still closed to the public.

One lane of the road westbound is still closed.

Three ambulance service vehicles were sent to administer first aid to the man before he was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.

Supt Chris Sharp said: “I am aware there has been speculation on social networking sites about this incident.

“I would like to reassure the community that at no time during this incident was a threat posed to the wider public and no one else was injured. However nearby areas were cordoned off while police dealt with the incident.”
