A concert band will be conducting their first public performance in two years with a host of popular songs.

Bicester Concert Band will be holding a summer concert at St Edburg’s Church in Bicester on Saturday, July 9.

The music begins at 8pm and tickets are available on the door for £5 cash. Alternatively, those who want to attend can request a ticket via the band’s website.

Conductor Wendy Marks will lead the band on Saturday, through a programme which includes music by John Williams, Henry Mancini, Queen, and themes from James Bond and Thunderbirds.

Ann Cadle, a drumkit player and committee member of the band, said: “We host our own concert twice a year, in summer and around Christmas time.

“For a couple of years we haven’t been performing because of Covid. We did a couple of lockdown recordings, but this is our first public performance for a while.

“We just want to delight people with an evening of live music, which has been missed during lockdown.

“We’re a strong band now, performing popular pieces that people of all ages can enjoy under the baton of Conductor Wendy Marks.”

The band will forgo their usual midway concert interval, in an effort to maintain social distancing.

Instead, the band will play straight through all their sets, which will last roughly 45 minutes to one hour.
