Oxfordshire is divided into five districts: Oxford City, Cherwell, West, South and Vale of White Horse.
They have responsibilities for running local planning, housing and environmental health, electoral registration, refuse collection, leisure and parks services, markets and fairs, tourism and cemeteries.
The city is a district council which, in partnership with other agencies (public, private and voluntary), provides a wide range of services for approximately 134,600 residents, 83,000 people who work in Oxford, and the five million people who visit the city every year.
