AN INNOVATIVE musical partnership will weave the rich tapestry of traditional folk with the sounds of industry in Gwaenysgor in the New Year.

Danny Pedler and Greg Russell bring their Field & Dyke project to the first Folk at the Hall of the year in January.

Grown out of an oral history research project conducted by Pedler, the music incorporates samples of dialogue from Field & Dyke Interviewees from the South Holland region of Lincolnshire, as well as being based around factory machine rhythms.

Field & Dyke, which yielded a fantastic album of the same name earlier this year, fuses the extraordinary vocal and multi-instrumentalist talent of Russell with the dynamic skillset of Pedler for a collaboration that is both forward thinking - reminiscent of art rockers Public Service Broadcasting's approach for 2017's evocative Every Valley - while staying true to the roots of folk storytelling.

These innovative music making techniques create brand new songs that explore folk music as a vehicle to communicate the feeling behind the social and cultural themes present in 21st century England.

To witness this incredible project live, head to the Gwaenysgor Village Hall on Friday, January 24 at 7pm.

Tickets are £13, plus booking fee, available from therecordjournal.co.uk.
