Anne Nolan has revealed she is worried about developing Alzheimer’s.
The 64-year-old singer, one of the famous singing sisters The Nolans, will take tests after seeing the disease affect her mother’s life.
“I worry about getting it and I know my sisters worry. Sometimes I forget things, like why I went upstairs but friends say everybody does that,” she told the Daily Mirror.
“Dementia is when you start to do dangerous things, which I haven’t. But if I get it, I want it detected early. The test I want is available next year.”
Anne’s mum Maureen was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. She died aged 81, in 2007.
“At the height of mum’s illness she was going out with no clothes on, wouldn’t realise where she was and would leave the hob on,” Anne recalled.
Anne is now an ambassador for Brain-e-Games, which aims to identify early signs of dementia through digital games and tests.
“When I had cancer it was detected early,” she said. “You have to think about dementia in the same light, if you can detect it earlier you can prolong your life.”
