Kim Kardashian has admitted her selfie obsession may seem ridiculous – but the pictures actually have a special meaning for her.
The 35-year-old reality TV star is always sharing pictures she has taken of herself with her 27 million Instagram followers and 29.5 million Twitter followers and recently published a hardback book of her favourite selfies called Kim Kardashian Selfish.
Kim told Adweek’s Mobile Issue: “So many people think that taking selfies is just ridiculous.
“For me, what’s so funny is I love taking pictures and posting them on social media just for memories.
“I’m kind of letting then know, yes, it is ridiculous, but it’s all fun. I take it more as a fun, emotional scrapbook that I love to look back on.”
Kim insisted that it is not about showing off, but about sharing her life with her followers.
She added: “It’s not that I brand myself like I’m a celebrity, it’s just I’m living my life and sharing a part of my life with the world.
“I love sharing my world with people, so I don’t see me just having a freak out and just stopping.
“Will I do it forever? I’m not sure. But I love the whole idea of it, especially because you get to share things your way.”
Kim – who has a young daughter North with husband Kanye West – hopes Keeping Up With Kardashians’ viewers see that her family is just like any other.
She said: “I hope that they get out of it that we are a normal family. They may not think we’re normal but we’re a family like everyone else’s that goes through so many different things and we’re always there to support each other.
“There’s always a family member that someone can relate to. We have a few more years left in us.”
