Literature – and food and drink – lovers attended a gala party at Quod Restaurant and Bar in Oxford city centre to see Witney writer Jane Cammack named winner of the sixth annual Mogford Prize.

She won the top prize of £10,000 in the short story competition which attracted 820 entries from around the world.

The party was hosted by Jeremy Mogford, owner of Quod, Old Bank Hotel, the Old Parsonage and Gee’s Restaurant in Oxford, who started the awards in 2013.

Along with Mr Mogford and his wife, Hilary, the competition was judged this year by Anglo-American author Bill Bryson and television cook Lorraine Pascale.
