Big news. Not only has BrewDog applied to open up on the site of Harry’s Restaurant on Cowley Road. Got 2 Eat, formerly Mick’s Café in Botley Road, has also finally opened its doors, as well as opening a second premises, the famous St Giles Café.

Charlbury Deli & Cafe has run a small shop in the town for 25 years, but now the business has been relaunched in a new premises in a more central location, and with a mouthwatering array of new offerings.

Boasting a new cafe space, boosted by a ‘cosy room’ with a sofa and children’s toys, plus a courtyard garden with extra seating for sunny days, the cafe has a series of newly-created menus for breakfast, lunch, snacks, and a dedicated children’s menu. The deli has also teamed up with The Missing Bean roastery in Oxford for coffee, and for the first time will be offering carefully selected wines and beers.

The Royal Oak on Woodstock Road is launching its National Cask Week on Tuesday September 19.

Three brewers will coming down to give out samples and talk about theirs beers. These are Hook Norton, Adnams and Black Sheep and the pub will be hosting a charity lucky dip on the evening too. Over that following week The Royal Oak plans to have a range of guest beers on to showcase cask ale in the business – and suggest some great food matches on the specials board.

Chef-owner of top UK restaurant Orwells in Shiplake, Ryan Simpson and Michelin chef Pip Lacey, who came second on Great British Menu last week, are hosting the Henley Food festival patrons dinner.

They will be joined by Ryan’s partner Liam, Bake Off Creme de la Creme winner Mark Tilling and Atul Kochhar’s head chef at Sindhu, Marlow to cook a four course dinner at The Henley River & Rowing Museum on August 1. Tickets are priced £125 per head and this includes Champagne to start, four courses and wine.
