* Fallowfields Hotel and Restaurant has launched an irresistible OX13 Lunch Menu – two courses for £12.50, and three courses for £15 from Monday to Saturday, noon until 2pm.

The menu is made up of fresh ingredients harvested mainly from Fallowfields’ own farm and gardens with a few items coming from local suppliers. Everything is sourced from within a few miles of the hotel, which is why its called the “OX13” Lunch Menu.

* Jean and Mark Fidler, the new publicans at The Woodman in North Leigh, hold their opening party today to show off the recent £75,000 investment.

Fully redecorated inside and out, with changes to open out the bar, and new furnishings to give the space a brighter feel, the beer garden has a new canopy, benches and parasols to make the pub more attractive during the summer months.

Upgrades to the kitchen include a smoker and chargrill allowing them to introduce a new food menu.

* Worton Organic Garden near Cassington is running a Bread Course on Wednesday, July 15, when its baker Alastair Anderson will be disclosing the secrets of perfectly baked bread.

* Emphasis will be on Sourdough, but any other bread queries can be dealt with on request. From 9am to 4pm, £100 including refreshments and lunch.

* Iscream, the coolest (and only) gelateria opened in the Covered Market last Tuesday – serving gelati, sorbettis and frozen yoghurt.
