A brief round-up of this week's recommended tasty treats

* We have a great Valentines offer for you. The first person to ring in, wins a meal at Italian restaurant Prezzo at Oxford Castle tomorrow night, where you can choose from the extensive Valentine’s menu. The set menu offers a choice of six starters, five main courses and three desserts inclusive of a glass of Prosecco.

The starters include crab cakes, served with garlic mayonnaise as well as grilled goat’s cheese, with plum tomatoes and caramelised onions on ciabatta bread with a balsamic glaze.

The mains offer king prawn risotto, with oak-roasted salmon fillet and leeks in a creamy saffron sauce, penne al pollo Zafferano; seasoned chicken, red chilli, spinach and garlic in a saffron sauce or pizza tre gusti; pepperoni sausage, seasoned chicken, pancetta bacon, fresh rosemary, mozzarella, tomato. Desserts include sticky toffee pudding and honeycomb smash cheesecake.

* Those of you staying at home for Valentine’s Day could try Dell’Ugo’s fresh dark chocolate pasta – the first fresh chocolate pasta on the market from which 10p from each pack of pasta will be donated towards Heart’s Charity Have a Heart, which raises money to support disadvantaged children across the UK. The new Special Edition Devilish Chocolate Fiorelli Dessert is available until March 4 at Waitrose and Ocado costing £3.49.

* Carluccio’s at Bicester Village is always a great place to head to on Valentine’s Day, either for dinner or to buy some of their specialist merchandise.

From a bouquet of milk chocolate roses presented in a sleek box by the half dozen (£24.95, 120g, boxed) try Carluccio’s brand new Cuori di Pasta (£3.95, 500g) – heart-shaped pasta coloured with spinach, beetroot and tomato.

Or get in early with the Valentine’s menu which runs from February 11-16, with a three-course Valentine’s menu at £25 per person including a glass of Prosecco. Mains include a walnut pesto and leek risotto, topped with fresh ricotta; pan roasted cod fillet with herby potatoes, capers and lemon; or share a chargrilled rump steak for two, topped with shaved parmesan and rocket, rosemary potatoes and tarragon aioli.
