* The ‘individually Italian’ Zizzi has a new menu for you to try at its restaurant in George Street.

As well as updates to its classic choices such as pizza and pasta, you also can chow down on alternatives such as pollo al prosciutto (chicken breast cooked with prosciutto ham, white wine sauce and Tuscan potatoes) or Zizzi’s own fish stew (comprised of sea bass, king prawns, squid, mussels and potatoes in a tomato stew).

Book a table by calling 01865 202993.

* The ultimate Sunday brunch is now available at Malmaison in the Castle Quarter.

Dubbed ‘Mal on Sunday’, diners are treated to three courses of grub, starting with individually prepared omelettes, eggs, pancakes or waffles, followed by one of an array of classic brunch mains – huevos rancheros, steak frites, traditional prime rib – and finishing with a decadent dessert such as creme brulees or sticky toffee puddings.

Pure indulgence and perfect for treating families, the whole meal costs £19.95 per person, with kids under 12 joining the feast for £7.95. The brunch is available from 12-4pm every Sunday.

Make a reservation by calling 01865 268400.

* National Vegetarian Week runs later this month, from May 20-26.

The six-day celebration is out to prove that going veggie is surprisingly simple – seven free, mouth-watering recipes that are fuss-free and super easy can be found at nationalvegetarianweek.org, so anyone on the verge of a dietary revolution can test the best of a vegetarian lifestyle.

If you can’t be bothered with cooking up your own animal-friendly dinner, though, Bella Italia will sort you out with a free side order of Mediterranean roasted vegetables with every one of their Portobello mushroom burgers ordered that week.

Call 01865 791032 to book a table, and mention the deal to your waiter for the free side.

* A new iPhone and Android app is now available to help busy food fans minimise waste and save cash whilst on the go.

Love Food Hate Waste allows users to quickly store details of all the food in the fridge/freezer and cupboards to remind them what’s needed and what’s not when out shopping.

There’s a portion planner and a meal diary to ensure a varied and economic diet, and you can also keep a record of your own best recipes whilst rating and share other people’s culinary creations.

Download it via Apple’s App Store or Google’s Play Store for free.
