But the country has also produced some mighty musicians - including the likes of Leonard Cohen, KD Lang, Rufus and Martha Wainwright, and, err...Bryan Adams. It's not a bad achievement for a nation which, while occupying 90 per cent of the Earth’s land mass, only has the population of Banbury. or something.
Anyway, one of the finest songwriters north of the 49th Parallel, Eric Chenaux has touched down on our shores in time to headline a very special gig of cross-cultural delights at a unique Oxford landmark.
The Constellation Records artist plays St Michael At The Northgate Church, one of the city’s oldest buildings, in Cornmarket Street on Wednesday (June 6).
He is joined by quickly-rising Scots indie act Two Wings, Maqam - an Arabic music ensemble led by Tarik Beshir, and oddball American pop Rainbow Reservoir.

It looks like being a very special night of music.
