TAKING place on the rolling acres of Cornbury Park, Wilderness is set to be one of the loveliest festivals of the summer.

In three days of partying, bands including Mercury Rev, Gogol Bordello, Antony and the Johnsons, Laura Marling, Daniel Johnston, Dry The River, Guillemots, Toots & The Maytals, Hypnotic Brass Ensemble, Hayseed Dixie and The Low Anthem, left, will play on stages in the wooded grounds, deep in the ancient Wychwood Forest, warming up the audience for secret late-night parties and masked balls.

And it’s not just music. With special appearances by chefs, performances by The Old Vic Tunnels, Tax Deductible Theatre Company, Factory Theatre, and the Bristol Natural History Consortium, ballroom dancing, late-night revelling and story-telling, puppet theatre, processional bands, séances and life drawing classes, Oxfordshire’s newest festival promises to be the most eclectic and diverse imaginable.

Wilderness takes place at Cornbury Park, near Charlbury, from August 12-14. Tickets start at just £60. Go to wildernessfestival.com
