It’s rare I’m lost for words but on this occasion I think I truly am. Because where do you go after you’ve used up the words ‘brilliant’, ‘extraordinary’ and ‘magical’?

Frankly I don’t know, but if you looked in a thesaurus for other words that mean ‘stunning’ I reckon you’d top at least a hundred.

In fact, maybe I should just list those instead and call that my review?

After all, that’s how good Sleeping Beauty is. And since it’s English National Ballet, one of the greatest companies in the world, it’s worth going to see, even if ballet isn’t quite your ‘bag’.

Why? Because whatever it has cost to stage this production – and ENB never scrimp – it’s up there on the stage, every last penny of it.

Indeed, it’s as much an event as a show; the set designs are jaw-dropping, the costumes breathtaking, the cast huge and the orchestra 70-strong.

Hell, if you went to Moscow it’s unlikely you’d see a more sumptuous feast for the senses. And best of all?

It leaves you breathless. Giddy. And utterly ‘wired’.

Beg, steal (Thames Valley Police, please note: not literally, you understand) and borrow to catch this fantastic show.

You won’t regret it. Ever.
