A small Oxford primary school is celebrating its 125th anniversary and welcoming a new headteacher.

Beckley Church of England Primary will be celebrating with a community party on Saturday September 4, welcoming past and present school members as well as local businesses.

It is also delighted to announce that Miss Rhiannon Wilkie will be joining as headteacher in September.

Miss Wilkie grew up in Oxfordshire and comes from Edith Moorhouse school in Carterton where she was acting head and deputy.

She has worked in many schools across the county.

She said: "I am extremely excited to begin my first headship at Beckley school in September. There is so much that is already so special about the school and the wider community, and it is a wonderful opportunity to move the school in an innovative direction.

"My passions as a teacher have always been in creative curriculum design and inclusion - I cannot wait to provide the children of Beckley with a really brilliant learning offer, and ensure that our aspirations for every child are sky-high, regardless of their circumstance."

The school, which has some places available, is three miles from Oxford City and overlooks Otmoor RSPB Nature Reserve.
