A cancer support charity is preparing to host its first summer event since the global pandemic began.

The Hummingbird Centre, based in Launton, Bicester will be putting on a summer festival in line with its mission to reconnect with the community and interact with its supporters.

Taking place on Saturday, July 16, from 12 noon to 4pm, at Launton Playing Fields, the event will include a dog show, stalls, food and refreshments, games, a bouncy castle, face painting and a bottle stall.

The charity, which supports people with cancer and their families, is appealing for people to donate bottles of any kind for the stall, as well as any children’s toys for their children’s tombola.

Donations can be dropped off at the Hummingbird Centre Monday to Friday, between 9am and 4pm.

Mechelle Harris, founder of The Hummingbird Centre, said: “I can’t tell you how excited we are to be running events again.

“The summer festival is the first of four events lined up to take place this year. We are also planning a golf day, theatre show and Christmas gathering.

“I cannot believe it has been three years since we hosted an event, but we are all really looking forward to seeing the community near and far, face-to-face once again.”

Entry is £1 and most activities and games will cost £1 too.
