UK sales of the Cowley-built Mini have once again bucked the national trend with a rise of more than 20 per cent in June.

Latest figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) show 5,917 cars were sold during the month, compared to 4,925 in the same period last year.

And sales figues for the year to date are more than ten per cent ahead of 2010 with 24,620 cars finding buyers.

That contrasts wit the national new car market which fell 6.2 per cent to 183,125 units, continuing a trend seen over the last 12 months.
