Work on the refurbishment of the McDonald’s restaurant in Oxford city centre will start on Monday.
The £430,000 scheme will see the upstairs of the building in Cornmarket Street closed for two weeks before the whole of the outlet is shut down for a further week from February 4. It is expected the restaurant will re-open on February 12.
A total of 12 new jobs are being created on the back of the refurbishment, bringing the total workforce to 102.
Carl Room, who operates the franchise for the McDonald’s restaurants in Oxford, Botley, Abingdon and Headington, said: “We have a combined turnover of £8.3m for the restaurants and that has grown five per cent in the last year.
“We have to keep investing to ensure growth continues.”
Mr Room is also looking to take on 30 apprentices throughout the course of the year and has spent £12,000 on a dedicated training room in the Headington branch.
Five will qualify with BTEC qualifications in February and the scheme will be stepped up throughout the year.
Mr Room added: “We have always got positions available and these people will be able to move up the ladder to management positions more quickly.”
