Medical equipment company Penlon, the only independent UK-based manufacturer of anaesthesia systems, will receive a Queen's Award for Enterprise from the Lord Lieutenant for Oxfordshire, Tim Stevenson, on July 7.

Based at Abingdon Science Park, it exports more than 60 per cent of its production to more than 90 countries worldwide, including Iraq. Revenues have more than doubled over six years. It won an International Trade award, its fourth Queen’s Award.

Group sales director Peter Worrallo, who has been with the company almost 20 years said: "This is another important milestone for the company, which has worked hard to establish its position internationally. It is particularly gratifying in what has been a tough economic climate and is a testament to the dedication of the team and strength of partnerships with our excellent distributors."
