The Westgate Centre in Oxford has announced that a cycle courier is now working for its 'hands-free' shopping service.

Customers living within a four-mile radius of Westgate Oxford can now make a more sustainable choice by selecting bike delivery with DropIt.

The new service, powered by local cycle courier company Velocity, will help to reduce vehicle traffic and promote the use of cycling in Oxford.

Guests who drop off their bags at one of Westgate Oxford’s shops, or at the Guest Experience Desk before 3pm, can also receive same-day delivery by the new cycle couriers.

Velocity was launched in 2022 by two friends with the aim of making Oxford a less congested and polluted city.

The company now partners with several Oxford-based businesses to deliver items at a vastly reduced carbon footprint.

Brendan Hattam, Centre Director at Westgate Oxford, said “Following the success of the launch of Westgate Oxford’s hands-free shopping powered by DropIt last September, we are thrilled to have expanded our on-site bag consolidation, collection and delivery service with the addition of our cycle courier option.

“With sustainability at the forefront of everyone’s minds, we know that guests are on the lookout for more climate conscious options.

"Partnering with Dropit is one the small changes we can make to help Westgate become a more sustainable destination for the local community to enjoy.”

The Westgate Centre launched the new bag collecton service run by Dropit in September.

Customers can use a Dropit bag 'consolidation and collection service', alongside home delivery.

The majority of stores have been participating, meaning shoppers can enjoy a bag free retail experience.
