AN OXFORD hotel is welcoming a new face as a manager with a wealth of experience in the trade is appointed.

Robin Ford, the new general manager, is heading up the team at four-star hotel, The Oxford Belfry.

Mr Ford, from Worcester, will oversee operations at the property, which is currently part of the QHotels portfolio.

However, Mr Ford will help with the transition as it gets set to rebrand and join the DoubleTree by Hilton portfolio.

Experienced hotelier Mr Ford will lead the 150 strong team at the 154-bed hotel, which boasts a health club, spa, restaurant, bar and lounge as well as 17 conference and meeting rooms.

With more than 18 years’ experience in the industry, he has worked in Australia and Ireland, as well as winning senior management roles for some of the UK’s most recognizable brands including Crowne Plaza and Macdonald Hotels.

The Oxford Belfry's Mr Ford said: “I’m pleased to have the opportunity to come on board as general manager at such an exciting time, as the hotel prepares to rebrand and join the DoubleTree by Hilton portfolio.

“My focus will be on ensuring the team continues to offer our guests the first class service they have come to expect, whether they’re taking a short break with us, attending a conference, or simply popping in for a coffee or a bite to eat.”

The hotel is operated by the UK’s leading independent hotel management company, RBH.

The Oxford Belfry is currently undergoing 'extensive' refurbishment, with bedrooms and public areas being worked on.

Its website warns guests that there may be disturbances during daytime hours, seven days a week.
