Abingdon-based company Zonal Retail Data Systems has completed its largest ever contract worth more than £4.3m.

The company, based at Milton Park near Didcot, designs, manufactures and supplies electronic point of sale terminals (EPoS) terminals for companies in the leisure and hospitality industries.

It has supplied more than 1,250 of its terminals to the newly formed Orchid Pub Company for use in its 305 pubs.

The installation project was completed in 44 days and included 800 training sessions for the pub company's staff.

Zonal managing director Stuart McLean said: " We are proud to have won such a large contract from one of the largest managed pub companies in the UK.

"Our staff deserve enormous credit for completing the installation and training programme in record time.

"The contract is a great boost for the company and we are looking forward to continued success in the future."

Orchid's finance director Charles Freeman said: "This is a significant investment for the company.

"It is vital our managers have the most effective technology to enable them to run their pubs smoothly."

Zonal, founded in 1979, now employs 40 staff and supplies its terminals to companies including JD Wetherspoon, Greene King, Barracuda, Stringfellows and Ministry of Sound.
