When Brakspear’s brewery in Henley closed in 2002 due to falling sales, it marked the end of a 220-year tradition.
Now the Oxfordshire-based pub company has returned to its brewing roots.
The iconic Brakspear Special, which has been produced by Marstons at Witney’s Wychwood Brewery since 2004, is once again being made in the town at a new microbrewery at the firm’s Bull on Bell Street pub.
Chief executive Tom Davies said: “Brakspear Special achieved near-legendary status in and around Henley.
“Bringing it back to the town and restoring the link between brewery and pubs seems right. It feels great for Brakspear to be brewing again.
