STAFF at seven Blockbuster video rental stores in Oxfordshire are facing an uncertain future after it was confirmed administrators would be closing some outlets.
Administrators at Moorfields Corporate Recovery have taken over the business and will close 72 out of its 264 stores in the UK with the loss of 452 jobs.
But last night Moorfields spokesman Katie Smith could not confirm where the axe would fall. The seven shops are in Abingdon, Witney, Didcot, Bicester, Thame, Carterton and Wallingford.
Blockbuster went into administration for the first time in March and was bought by TS Operations, but it was unable to turn around its fortunes.
Joint administrator Simon Thomas said: “This is obviously a difficult and upsetting time for everyone involved at Blockbuster.”
