FOR the first time in over a year, Covid restrictions will be lifted today.

The country woke-up to so-called 'Freedom Day' this morning as most mandatory lockdown restrctions in England ended at one minute past midnight.

These are the changes in England taking place today:

  • No limits on how many people can meet or attend attend events
  • 1-m plus social distancing guidelines can end in most settings
  • Face coverings no longer required by law, but are still recommended in crowaded and enclosed spaces
  • No limits on care home visitors
  • Pubs and restaurants do not have to offer table service
  • Nightclubs can reopen

Prime Minister Boris Johnson has urged caution as the restrictions ease.
