BRIGHTON & HOVE (PROHIBITION OF MOTOR VEHICLES) (SCHOOLS STREETS) ORDER 2021
NOTICE is hereby given that Brighton & Hove City Council ("the Council") has on 20th October 2021 made the above-named Order under the relevant sections of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended which when it comes into operation on 1st November 2021 will make permanent the following changes: Prohibition of Motor Vehicles Monday to Friday Term time only 8.00 to 10am and 2.00 to 4.00 pm except for access in Florence Place (Downs Infant), Grantham Road (Downs Junior), George William Mews, Highlands Road and Park Close (all for St Nicolas CE Primary), Queens Park Rise (St Luke's Primary) and Somerhill Road (Brunswick Primary). The changes described above were originally the subject of the following experimental traffic orders: TRO-18-2020 advertised on 28th August 2020. TRO-18a-2020 advertised on 1st February 2021. TRO-18b- 2020 advertised on 19th February 2021. TRO-19-2020 advertised on 28th August 2020. TRO-19b-2020 advertised on 8th February 2021. Following the comments received and the decision made at Environment, Transport and Sustainability Committee on 21st September 2021 several changes have been made. The proposals for Grantham Road and Somerhill Road will be made permanent as per the initial experimental order TRO-18-2020 (school time closures only), likewise Queens Park Rise will be made permanent as per the initial experimental order TRO-19-2020 (school time closures only). Any person who wishes to question the validity of this Order or of any of its provisions on the grounds that it or they are not within the powers conferred by the Act, or that any requirements of the Act or of any instrument made under it have not been complied with may, within six weeks from the date on which the Order was made, apply to the High Court for that purpose.
