SOUTH OXFORDSHIRE AND VALE OF WHITE HORSE DISTRICT COUNCILS COUNCILLORS' ALLOWANCES SCHEMES
South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse District Councils, in accordance with Regulation 16(1|(bj of the Local Authorities (Members' Allowances) (England) Regulations 2003, hereby give notice that they have had regard to the recommendations of the Independent Remuneration Panel and each adopted a new scheme of Councillors' Allowances which applies from 1 April 2022. The Councils appointed an Independent Remuneration Panel to consider and make recommendations on the level of allowances that all councillors will receive and for additional allowances for those with special responsibility. Vale of White Horse District Council considered the recommendations, detailed below, at its meeting on 6 October 2021, and South Oxfordshire District Council at its meeting on 7 October 2021.
The new allowances payable from 1 April 2022 are set out below:

Carers' Allowance - up to a maximum per hour of:
General care linked to Real Living Wage. Specialist care at cost - medical evidence required.

These allowances will be increased annually in line with the percentage increase in staff salaries from May 2022 for a period of up to three years. After this period the Scheme shall be reviewed again by an independent remuneration panel.
Travelling and subsistence allowance will be payable to councillors and co-opted/Independent Persons
in connection with any approved duties. The amount of travel and subsistence payable shall continue
to be at the maximum levels payable to council staff in line with HM Revenue ad Customs' rates.
