Water Resources Act 1991 (as amended by the
Water Act 2003) Notice of application for a full licence to abstract (take) water for a previously exempt abstraction.
CEMEX UK Materials Limited has applied to the
Environment Agency for a licence.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application
in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources
Act 1991 and Regulation 8 of The Water Abstraction
(Transitional Provisions) Regulations 2017.
The application Is for a full licence to abstract water from
underground strata comprising sandstone and siltstone at
Roan Edge Quarry, near Kendal, Cumbria at National Grid
Reference SD 58671 92676.
The application Is to abstract water as follows:
? 420 cubic metres an hour ? 3,360 cubic metres a day
? 840,000 cubic metres a year
The water will be used for dewatering all year round. Further details are: this existing abstraction was previously exempt from the need for a licence under the Water Resources Act 1991.
