Notice ID: WOR2015130

Notice effective from
3rd March 2021 to 2nd April 2021

Application for consent to carry out works on Common Land: THE KINGS STANLEY FREE MEADOWS COMMON, Stroud. Severn Trent Water Limited (STW) has applied to the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs for consent under section 38 of the Commons Act 2006 to carry out restricted works on The Kings Stanley Free Meadows Common. The Planning Inspectorate will decide the application on behalf of the Secretary of State. STW are undertaking vital upgrades to the sewer system in Stroud and are proposing to install a new trunk sewer which will follow a similar route to the existing sewer that runs through the common. These works will begin in 2021 and be complete in April 2023 following commissioning of the new pipework. Footpaths will be closed at the point they cross the working area; however, the majority of the footpaths will remain open and access maintained across the common.

The proposed works can be split into three sections: -Section 1 south of the A419 includes installing 750mm and 900mm sewer pipes underground within a temporary working area of approx. B,240m2 leaving approx. 3.2m2 of permanent apparatus for manhole covers.

- Section 2 to the north west of the A419 includes installing 750mm and 375mm sewer pipes underground within a temporary working area of approx. 950m2 leaving approx. 2 m2 of permanent apparatus for a manhole cover.

- Finally, section 3 to the north east of the A419 included installing 1500mm and 900mm sewer pipes underground within a temporary working area of approx. 8650m2 leaving approx. 9.76m2 of permanent apparatus for access to the sewers and manhole lids.

Temporary fencing will be used during the construction phase only and will include a mixture of stock proof fencing, heras fencing and barriers around construction areas. Temporary fencing will likely be kept on site once construction works are completed to ensure any reinstated grass is allowed to establish.
