ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTION 14(1) & (7) Notice of Temporary Traffic Order
Oxford, A4142 Eastern Bypass (Ring Road) Prohibition of Through Traffic and Temporary 20mph Speed Limit Date of Order: 3 June 2019 Coming into force: 9 June 2019 This Order is being introduced because of routine road surface dressing on the A4142 Eastern Bypass between Headington and Horspath Driftway which is anticipated to take place over 8 days. Work will be undertaken between approx. 6am and 4pm. The works will reduce running lanes throughout the period and there will be 2 full closures. The effect of the closure Order is to temporarily prohibit vehicles proceeding along the bypass on 9 June between 6am and 4pm; and on 16 June between approx. 8pm and 6am.
The 50mph speed limit will be reduced to 20mph. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works.
The alternative route for traffic is via the ring road A40 - A44 -A34 -A423 -A4142 and vice versa. The relevant part of the Oxfordshire Country Council (Oxford A4142 and A423 Eastern and Southern Bypass and A4074 Sandford on Thames) (50 Mph Speed Limit) Order 2011 will be temporarily suspended for the duration of the works. This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. (Ref T6492)
