Dennis George CHILES

CHILES Dennis George (formerly of Kidlington) Passed away peacefully on 14th December 2021, aged 87, at St Richard's hospital, Chichester. A much loved husband to Eileen, father to Elizabeth, Paul, Alison and Caroline, father-in-law and grandfather. His funeral will take place at 12 noon on 10th January 2022 at St Richard's Catholic Church, Chichester. No flowers. Any donations please to Alzheimer's Society. May he rest in peace.

Dennis as Principal of Plater College Oxford was my tutor for Industrial Relations. As President of the JCR I also had the privilege of spending time with him on student business. My strongest memory of Dennis was from a time when he persuaded me not to treat three resident nuns to see the film “The Life of Brian” for which, when I had matured a bit, I became extremely grateful! I remember him as a kind and approachable man. One who encouraged me in studies and was always good counsel on other matters. The college was in good hands in his day. I offer my sincere condolences to his wife Eileen and the family. Stephen 1979 cohort.
