SANDALLS John It is with deep sadness that we announce that John passed away on 30th May 2019 at the John Radcliffe Hospital Oxford, aged 82 years. Beloved partner of Rose, much loved by Jane, Susan, Lucy, Max, Ken & David. John will be greatly missed by all his family and many friends. The Funeral Service and celebration of John's life will be held at South Oxfordshire Crematorium, Garford, on Wednesday 19th June at 14:00. At John's request, there will be no wake after the service. Family flowers only please. Donations would be gratefully received in John's memory for Prostate Cancer UK and can be sent to Edward Carter Funeral Directors, 15 Newbury Street, Wantage, OX12 8BU.

John was my lifelong friend. We went to the same school, Prince Henry's Grammar, Evesham, Worcs. John was only two weeks younger than me. We shared the same classroom, played in the first 11 soccer team and enjoyed each others company in many field sports.
John, after leaving school, worked at Harwell (Rutherford Nuclear Atomic Establishment (during which he was awarded a Doctor of Science Degree for his work) and settled down in Wantage. Later in my life, my wife and I settled down in the Newbury Area, and thus we shared many lunches with John and Rose, and when not weeting up we were regularly exchanging views and opinions re the day's news, sports (he was keen on watching horseracing and was a regular visitor to Newbury Races) etc via email.
I miss his 'companianship' and chats verbally on the phone or via email. His passing was sudden and unexpected - and a shock and loss to me. I miss him not being in my life anymore.
