Malcolm Pledge was absolutely right about my brother, Micheal had extraordinary talent. I was luck enough to play over 700 games for Wycombe Wanderers but I didn't have half the talent of my younger brother.
I remember Dave Sexton (Chelsea and England manager) bringing a side down for my testimonial match and the first thing he said to me was what a talent Micheal was and he said he should have went on to play at the highest level. Unfortunately it wasn't to be but I still have fond memories of watching him play for Chelsea Youth and reserves, and being amazed at what he could do with a football.
Rest in peace Micheal.

Having played football with this guy in our early teen years it came as no surprise that this guy had all the makings for a strong professional career in football.
Seeing him play at this young age was an education for me to witness a player with such skill, wizardry and especially, vision.
I cannot say enough about Mike as a footballer, great person as well, who in my opinion and many others wishing to make a career out of football, wished that they had a portion of his skills.
I remember the days of the 'pig field' (John would know that place) where we used to play for hours and hours until dark with our select group of players. To say Mike should have played for England is a far cry from where he ended up. I was a witness to his magic and he undoubtedly should have played for England. HE WAS THAT GOOD !
Lost touch after those golden years but the memories never fade. Still very vivid right now.
To say I am shocked is an understatement. This is a very sad day for me.
My heart goes out to the Maskell family at this time.
I wish I could be there to share in your grief.
Great guy, brilliant footballer. R.I.P. Mike, I'm sure he's up there now teaching them how to play.
Just shear magic !
