Oxford has been named as one of the top 50 most stressed-out places in England.

The factors contributing to stress include health, unemployment, income, crime levels, and the availability of green spaces.

The survey revealed that the least stressful place to live in is Walsall, while the most stressful accolade goes to York.

Surprisingly, London did not make the top 10.

For their study, the Deskup team considered a range of stress indicators, including health issues, anxiety levels, physical inactivity, substance abuse, and crime rates.

Other factors like access to green spaces, the rate of smokers, divorce rates, also contributed to each city’s ranking.

Oxford was ranked eighth in the physical health category, and 86th in the mental.

The city ranked 27th in terms of addiction, 30th in social environment and 51st in offences.

A Deskup spokesperson said: "Modern life has become fast-paced, expensive and often complicated, all of which contribute to added stressors that can negatively affect both our mental and physical well-being.

"Studies indicate that heightened stress levels often lead individuals to engage in unhealthy habits such as smoking, drinking, and neglecting self-care.

"It is imperative to effectively address and manage stress to enhance our overall quality of life."
