Do we put the fire out – or do we stand back and hope for the best!
That was the conundrum facing firefighters Steve Smith, Trevor Timpson, Bill Law and Mark Stone who were in charge of the fire engine on display at the White Horse Show at Uffington, near Faringdon, in about 1990.
Mr Law tells me that he and his colleagues attended the show every year, but it was rare to see flames, even in the hands of a lady.

He has labelled the photograph very appropriately – Dilemma!
The annual White Horse Show was established to raise funds for a new village hall for Uffington, and 2015 marked 40th anniversary of the official opening of the Thomas Hughes Memorial Hall on Broad Street, Uffington.
